Under the Queen Juliana Bridge, Kaya Kaya gives Ritmo Kombina a full two-hour tribute to the sound that became part of Curaçao’s musical identity. Hosted by Dibo D, the night honors Gibi Doran, the musician credited with developing Ritmo Kombiná into the style that went on to influence bands across Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire.
A long list of familiar voices steps in for the tribute, including Tico Libiee, Paul Welvaart, Rasta Le, Djudju V, Raey, Kevv., Stacey and Irving “Luwi” Yano. This one is less about one band and more about hearing the legacy carried by a whole generation of Curaçao artists.
